Roslyn is a village located home on the eastern border of North Hempstead on the North Shore of Long Island. This community was named for a castle in Scotland, Roslin Castle. During the 30’s various estates and property was sold and then divided the development of residential areas. On Harbor Hill, Clarence Mackay built one of the mansions. A few famous residents that call Roslyn home include Michael Crichton, Darin Strauss, and William Cullen Bryant.
The Roslyn Union Free School District serves the area along with other communities such as Flower Hill, East Hills, Roslyn Estates, Greenvale, Roslyn Heights, and Roslyn Harbor. The district offers three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The village is home to more than twenty restaurants all in a square mile area with a large variety of cuisine including American, Japanese, Spanish, and Seafood to name a few.
When it comes to things to do, Roslyn offers more than 100 historic sites which are including the Landmark Society tours of private homes that have been designated historic landmarks. The Nassau County Museum of Arts is also home in Roslyn providing a collection of over six hundred works of art from European and American artists.
